15 May The first national tabletop exercise on handling cybercrime held in Skopje
The first national tabletop exercise on handling cyber/ ICT security incidents at national and international level, was held in Skopje on 8 May 2018. It was jointly organized by the OSCE – Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, Mission to Skopje and the Agency for Electronic Communications (AEC).
The event was of high relevance for society, bearing in mind that cyber attack has become a daily threat in today’s modern globalized world. Such attacks appear in multiple forms, equally harmful: as a cyber campaign, cyber warfare or cyber terrorism in a different context.
The level of cyber attacks can range from installing spyware on a personal computer to the attempt to destroy the infrastructure of entire nations. Cyber attacks have become increasingly sophisticated and more dangerous.
Head of OSCE Mission to Skopje Jeff Goldstein estimated that the exercise will help both government and private sector representatives, to better co-operate in order to jointly and better respond to cyber/ICT security threats and in his opinion, that is the best way to fight against cybercrime.
